Successful Canadian Trade Mission to Germany

On the 5th and 6th of May 2022, the first leg of the Canadian Creative Industries Trade Mission took place in Berlin.

The trade mission included 30 Canadian delegates with companies and organisations from a range of creative industry sectors (audiovisual, music, book publishing, interactive and digital media, performing arts, and fashion/design). These visits were a follow-up of the digital trade missions that took place one year before to the same countries. Also for the virtual version of these trade missions, TRANSFER.LC was contracted by the Canadian government to organize high quality matchmaking.

It included:

  • 30 Canadian delegates
  • 55 German counterparts
  • 200 B2B meetings

The trade mission focused on creative sub-sectors such as audiovisual, IDM, book publishing, fashion, design, music and performing arts. It was an honour to be joined by the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, the Minister of Culture, the Honourable Isabelle Mondou, the Deputy Minister of Canadian Heritage and the Honourable Stéphane Dion, the Ambassador of Canada to Germany.

Next to the B2B meetings, other activities included:

  • Two networking events
  • Site visits to leading audiovisual and performing arts companies like the legendary Studio Babelsberg AG, were recently the movie John Wick 4 was filmed and companies such as, INVR.SPACE GmbH, English Theatre Berlin, and the Chamäleon Berlin.

A big thank you to Patrimoine canadien — Canadian Heritage and the Embassy of Canada to Germany | Ambassade du Canada en Allemagne that trusted TRANSFER.LC both for the virtual and in person mission co-organisation.

TRANSFER.LC organised the matchmaking of 200 individual meetings between Canadian and German companies. Furthermore, several Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) have been signed during the trade mission.

This is what was said about the trade mission and TRANSFER.LC:

“Thank you to TRANSFER for putting together such amazing trade missions in Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands. It was so nice to be there and see everyone in person after two years!” – Pablo Rodriguez, Canadian Minister of Culture

“It has been such a pleasure to co-organize 6 trade missions in a row with TRANSFER over the past months, both virtually as in-person. In a short amount of time, TRANSFER was able to communicate with the Canadian delegates to see what for contacts they were searching for, and then organize over 600 suitable meetings in the three different markets. Safe to say, it was a massive success! I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this partnership”. – Christine Angelo, Director, International Trade Operations at Patrimoine Canadien

“TRANSFER did a phenomenal job organizing the meetings for this trade mission. Thanks for everything! I made so many great connections… already doing my second meetings now. Was such an incredible experience. Thanks for all your work and kindness. Hope we get to collaborate again. Stay in touch!  I met with 18 organizations during the B2B events alone, and had some wonderful conversations with the contacts that were organized for me. I can not wait to see how these connections flourish in the future.” – Lisa Marie DiLiberto, Theatre Direct Canada

“Thank you for everything prior to and during the Germany trade mission, your help and preparation were invaluable in getting ourselves prepared for entry into the new market.” – Karoli Grenman, Head of Operations, The Other End

“The Canadian Embassy in Berlin had the pleasure of working with the TRANSFER team in preparation of a trade mission to Germany. During this mission, 49 Canadian participants were matched with German companies, organisations and institutions. The TRANSFER team showed great dedication throughout the 4 months required for this project and were very organised and reliable to work with from beginning to end. They delivered excellent work that resulted in a positive outcome for the event as a whole, and most importantly for the matchmaking of 200+ meetings. We have understood from the participants that there are already some first deals in the making due to these meetings.

I highly recommend TRANSFER for organisations looking for event planning and support. We look forward to cooperating with TRANSFER and its team on other projects in the future.”– Christopher MacLean, Counsellor, Commercial, Embassy of Canada.
