Retail industry is one of the biggest in the UK market, and globally,  with supermarkets specifically being on top in revenue ($188B. for 2022). Retail and wholesale is the biggest sector also in employment (14% of the total job market for 2021). The importance of the UK retail market can be reflected by its share in the total GDP as it generates approximately 5% of it (2021). Among the biggest players of the market are Tesco, Asda, WM Morrison, Aldi, Sainsbury’s.  Despite big national companies having a central role in the market, due to the country’s diverse nature it offers a lot of opportunities for international companies to flourish.
