The Dutch bike culture as export product

Last week, our CEO Gerald Baal was once again the co-host at the BNR news radio program ‘Wereldveroveraars’ from Jelle Maasbach. This week’s topic was one that hits close to home for many Dutch folks: cycling! Together with the CEO of the company Baja Bikes, Rigtmar Brandenburg  the conversation was about cycling tourism in Europe and the America’s.

Cycling is becoming more and more popular and has emerged as not just a convenient mode of travel, but also as an environmentally friendly aspect of mobility. This mode of transportation has grown in many countries in Europe and the America’s.

The Netherlands stands as the country with the highest number of bicycle users worldwide

Sweden stands out with over 60% of its population identifying as cyclists

Spain has seen a growing interest in cycling, with approximately 20% of the population listing the bicycle as one of their modes of transport

Germany and the United Kingdom stand as the primary source markets for cycling tourism

In Bogotá, Colombia is one of the most popular city in the Americas for biking.
